I had a plan for today. Last night as I was going to sleep I mapped out exactly what the day would look like, from the fun family breakfast all the way through to Family Movie Night.
I sectioned off time to work, time to play, and time to just be quiet and soak in the beautiful weather. It would be an exciting, productive day – the exact type of day that reminds us why we choose to work from home and lead an unconventional life.
And then the alarm went off.
The migraine hit, the repair man who was supposed to come at 8:00 never showed up, the thunderstorms started, and the supposed 45-minute work meeting lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The delicious homemade hamburger buns instead became the $1.09 special from Kroger, the fun time frolicking in the pool became the kids playing Wii baseball, and the relaxing and chatting over a nice cup of coffee became me frantically motioning to David to please refill my cup while I tried to Skype, type, and listen all at once.
But you know what else happened today?
My daughter made me a card just because she loves me, my son drew me a picture and put it on the bulletin board, my husband took all four kids out to the library so I could finish my work, and my dear friend texted me just to tell me that she had an awesome dream last night.
So, all things considered, today was a good day.
A very good day.
The exact type of day that reminds me why we choose to work from home and lead an unconventional life.
See you tomorrow!
